Solved Can't make Windows Store App SEEN when doing 'Open With'

Greetings,

I like a silly little app called POLARR off the Windows Store. The free version really fixes up a photo fast. So when I have an image on my desktop I'd like to right click and open it with that app. The problems are --

1. It never shows in the initial OPEN WITH list
2. In that list, going to find it on the Microsoft Store is pointless because you'd have to do that every time
3. The Choose Another App option simply replicates the initial list in a new interface and if you --
4. -- search my programs for this app, it's not there.

So how do I tell Windows offer me 'Polarr' as an option?

Have you tried adding the app here?
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\

You need to go a bit further, by looking into

C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\613EBCEA.PolarrPhotoEditorAcademicEdition_5.11.5.0_x64__jb41c8remg0x2\app\polarr.exe

So right click on any picture format,
Open With
Choose another App
Scroll down
Open an app on your PC
select the .exe by pasting in the full path above.



I prefer using the 'Send To' option but the one above will work.

There's missing info between those two steps. My best guess is that the Windows Apps folder is invisible. I made it visible and it still refused to let me in.

There is no missing info and there is no need to open the folder.
Put the path in there as instructed.
And Click on Open (bottom right) to confirm.

Oh! That's what was missing! I was posting it in the top part where it says PROGRAM FILES. Let me try it.

I'm going to ask MS to make this far more simpler a process. I still don't know how you found the apps location so easily.

In this case, the app developer did not want to mess with the file association, so it's not MS' fault.
In any case, I am happy for you and you should mark this thread solved.
It may help someone else.

It's a kind of tradition here when someone helps you to click the Like (thumb-up) icon and choose one of the left-hand options to reward that volunteer helper. Members get points toward advancement through the ranks when you do that. Thanks.

Thanks for the reminder. I took a break from the net this last summer and by the time I got back I forgot.
