Solved Can't select SATA drive for backup in Hasleo

I did a backup for my system using Hasleo Backup Suite (free edition). When I opened "backup" it selected my SSD C: drive automatically, and then said all required drives and folders to backup my Windows have been selected. However, I have a SATA internal F: drive where I have these folders: Documents, Downloads, Music, Pictures, and Videos. I put them there to increase the capacity of my SSD because at the time it was just 500GB. I believe that those folders are part of the Windows system that should be included in the backup. I cannot select them separately, or include them in the backup, even though there is a space for the check mark.

1. What am I doing wrong?
2. I now have a 1TB SSD C: drive, so I'd like to know how to transfer the folders listed above back to there, if that is necessary to include them in the backup.

How do I do that? I can't select them when I open the backup program, see attached screenshot above. How do I move the user folders back to the C: drive?

Sorry, I deleted that post. Because you moved the user folders, they aren’t “system” do a file or drive backup as well as a system backup.

Windows should know where you moved the user folders to, so they should point to F:?
When you restore Windows from that system backup, Windows will know the user folders are on the F Drive. Because that’s where they were before you made the system backup.

System Backup & Restore​

Backup Windows operating system and boot-related partitions, including user settings, drivers and applications installed in these partitions, which ensures that you can quickly restore your Windows operating system once it crashes.

Disk/Partition Backup & Restore​

Viruses, power failure, or other unknown reasons may cause data loss, so it is a good habit to regularly back up the drive that stores important files, you can at least recover lost files from the backup image files in the event of a disaster.

File Backup & Restore​

Back up specified files(folders) instead of the entire drive to another location to protect your data, so you can quickly restore files(folders) from the backup image files when needed.

So do a system backup for your OS and a separate Disk/Partition or a File backup of your user folders on the F Drive.

Hi. Now that I have had a couple of hours sleep, I thought i’d better explain myself a little better.

• When I install Windows, the very first thing I do, is disable and remove OneDrive.

• After that, I change the location of my user folders, like you, to an external or separate internal drive (and set backups for that drive) Lets call it the “D Drive”
  • The drive already has my user folders (and files) because that is where they are always located
  • (The only thing to be done on a “Fresh/New” installation of Windows is to tell Windows the new location, the D Drive, using the tutorials from Brink, above.)
  • If you had already told Windows where the new location of the user folders are — before you made a System Backup — then if you ever have to recover the C Drive with that System Backup, Windows will again know where the new user folders are, because you organised this before the system backup. (I hope I wasn’t too confusing there)

• I then make my first system backup.

• This wont back up the user folders, because they are no longer located on the system drive (C Drive). We directed Windows to a new location for them on a separate drive. Therefore, the user folders need to be backed up as a separate job.

• You can not add an extra drive (That I know of) to a “System Backup” A “System backup is just for the system (C Drive).

• Because the user folders are no longer on the system drive which is the C Drive, which is what gets backed up when doing a “System backup” we need to do a separate backup job for the D Drive. This can be a whole drive/partition backup or just a files and folders backup in Hasleo or some other backup program.

• You can save these other backups to the same drive you backed up the system to. Hasleo can be told to create a new folder for them.

• Backups are always best made to a different drive than the drive you are backing up files from. In fact I don’t believe you can do a Disk/Partition backup of “D Drive” to the “D Drive”

That got me too when I first looked at testing Hasleo. If you choose 'Disk/partition backup' rather than 'System backup' and manually select all the partitions required for Windows it will make a full image that can restore Windows, but you will also be add other partitions to the image.
