Hi everyone,

I want to turn on clipboard history on both my machines but the setting is greyed out (see photo).

Can anyone help me to get this working??

Open the Command Prompt with administrative privileges and execute the below command to enable Clipboard History.

Reg.exe add "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Clipboard" /v "EnableClipboardHistory" /t REG_DWORD /d "1" /f

Reboot your system to make changes take effect.

Since the Clipboard History settings are grayed out, it may have been disable by group policy like in option 3 or 4 in the tutorial below. If so, you can enable it again.

Hi everyone!

I managed to get it turned on on my desktop (running Windows 11 Pro) via the group policy method. On my laptop, however (running Home) I tried the registry method and it doesn't work.

Any ideas?

I didn't realise, you can install the group policy editor on the Home edition.

I will give that a go!

That did not work. I installed the group policy editor and enabled clipboard history and the option in settings is still greyed out.

EDIT - I tried the registry fix again and this time it worked. Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it.

Is clipboard history working for anyone running the Dev build 25193. I just tried it, and it says nothing here. It does save the last thing that I copied to the clipboard. I restarted my desktop twice since turning it on.
