When MS made a change inside their CBS Engine with 26200.8655 a bug was also introduced. (And it is still there with 25H2 26200.9950 and 26H2 26300.9550) DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth keeps on downloading 2x 276Mb (1 real, a 2nd time retry bogus attempt because the download server just says: "You got it already...") It does not matter if something is not right or it is alright. The "repair" time went up from ~4 min to ~14 min. (Depending how fast your system is)
So everybody started to use the /ScanHealth option instead.
OK. Nothing wrong with that. It does only the checking fase while /RestoreHealth does the checking and repairing fase.
But....
It happens that /ScanHealth reports "No component store corruption detected. The operation completed successfully." So no errors.
But on some occasions (generally after an update) when you examine the CBS.log file you can see that it found corrupted items...
That's why we need to run /RestoreHealth to fix those issues.
I made an .ps1 script that will search inside the CBS.log for these endresult(s) of /ScanHealth report. It will search for it and displays the result to the user.
When that result is not there in the current CBS.log (because on regular basis the CBS.log makes a new one in order not to grow too large) it will give you the opportunity to run DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth to produce a report. It will then check the CBS.log again and only finds 1 occurrence and it will display the report to the user.
When you have independently run this command several times it will find and display all these reports. The only one that is actual is always the last one.
If you see corruptions the program will not correct it but just gives you advise to run a DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth as shown at the end of the script.
I converted the basic .ps1 script into an .exe (using PS2EXE) so it that can be started from any location on your disk.
It is just a quick check. The file (CBS Check Utility.exe) is attached with this post in a .7z archive if you want to use it.
You may run (when it is extracted) through a anti4us scanner or look inside the .exe (The .ps1 script is visible in there) for inspection.
I made this script because it saves me a lots of time by scrolling through the entire CBS.log file which can be very large. (>100Mb)
It will run as well on 32bit as 64bit systems. I left out that option to make it general.
