Windows 11 Insider Preview
Unconfuse me. Using w_11 Dev on my mail PC. Having no major, or any, really, problems.
Recvd the notice that I may want to switch to Beta.
If I just change that in Settings, will anything serious happen? Without doing clean install? (Haven't quite figured out Flight version BS yet.

Given the major changes in the channels that just happened I don't think that changing to the beta will work.. or turn out well. If you made the switch before yesterdays update you would have been fine. I would bet the option you have is to reinstall 11 and stick to the beta channel when you opt into the insider program. Or if you have a backup you can use that to go back to your previous version

If you want to switch from Dev to Beta channel and able to do it in normal way (which is always better), use the selection "Choose your Insider settings" in Settings, Windows Update, Windows Insider (you need to be registered as an Insider). However, it's possible only if you PC is fully compatible with Windows 11 system requirements. Otherwise use this tutorial where you need to download the Registry file:
Change Windows Insider Program Channel in Windows 11

But if your PC is counted incompatible, after applying Reg file your Beta status will be temporary, you may be switched soon to Release Preview, or, even worse, you may be asked to return back to Windows 10. You don't want that, do you?
In this case to remain in Beta channel need to use the Registry tweak (see this post and links):
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost\Applicability]
"TestFlags"=dword:00000020

Bunny say no, Slavic says yes.
I've had the Dev channel since W-11 first gave a choice.
Now running Version 21H2 Build 22000.168

I have Backups, File History and a WindowsImageBackup 7/18/2021
???

My main issue/question is if trying to go back from say 22449.1000 would be problematic to say the current beta, 220000.176 since they are vastly different. Running .168 I would just go with the beta and get the update to .176. Make a backup first since there are known issues with the .176 update.
