Accessibility Change Magnifier Zoom Level in Windows 11

This tutorial will show you how to change the zoom level of Magnifier for your account in Windows 11.

Magnifier makes part or all of your screen bigger so you can see words and images better.

You can change the Magnifier zoom level to choose how much Magnifier enlarges the screen when turned on.

When you turn on Magnifier, it will use the zoom level percentage from last closed by default.

Starting with Windows 11 build 26100.8737 (24H2), build 26200.8737 (25H2), and build 2800.2608 (26H1), Magnifier now gives you more control over how you zoom. You can type an exact zoom percentage directly in the magnifier toolbar to land on precisely the level you need.

Starting with Windows 11 build 26340.9354 (Experimental 26H2) for Insiders, Magnifier now understands each of your displays. Every screen keeps its own view at its own zoom. In earlier versions of Magnifier, zooming in stretched a single magnified view across all of your displays, so one screen's zoom followed you everywhere and screen edges blurred together. With this update, each monitor's boundary is respected, and each monitor can have its own zoom percentage. Your writing screen can be at 300% while your reference screen stays at 150%, and the magnified view no longer spills from one display into the next. This behavior matters because different tasks and screen resolutions often require different levels of magnification to remain comfortable to read.

1 Open Magnifier ( + Plus).

2 Move the mouse pointer onto the display you want to change the zoom level for.

3 Press the Windows + + (increase) or Windows + - (decrease) keys to adjust the zoom level percentage by your set zoom increment.

3 Press and hold the Ctrl + Alt keys while rotating the mouse scroll wheel up and down to adjust the zoom level percentage by your set zoom increment.

3 Perform an action you want below: (see screenshots below)

• Click/tap on the minus (-) or plus (+) button on the Magnifier toolbar to adjust the zoom level percentage by your set zoom increment.
• Type a custom zoom level between 100-1600 into the percentage field, and press Enter.

1 Open Settings (Win+I).

2 Click/tap on Accessibility on the left side, and click/tap on Magnifier on the right side. (see screenshot below)



3 Under Zoom level, click/tap on the minus (-) or plus (+) buttons to adjust the zoom level percentage per display by your set zoom increment. (see screenshot below)


4 You can now close Settings if you like.





1 Open Registry Editor (regedit.exe).

2 Navigate to the key below in the left pane of Registry Editor. (see screenshot below step 3)


3 In the right pane of the ScreenMagnifier key, double click/tap on the Magnification DWORD to modify it. (see screenshot below)


4 Perform the steps below to change the zoom level: (see screenshot below)

1. Select (dot) Decimal.
2. Enter a value data number between 100 and 1600 for the zoom level percentage you want.
3. Click/tap on OK.

5 Navigate to the key below in the left pane of Registry Editor. (see screenshot below step 3)


6 In the right pane of the PerMonitorZoom key, double click/tap on the GUID (ex: "{B723A711-DFDD-5E8F-AD8B-89EEF4B6D63E}") DWORD per display you want to modify it. (see screenshot below)

Ignore the GUID DWORDs with Previous. The Previous DWORDs is the zoom level used when you reset the zoom level to the last preferred magnification.

7 Perform the steps below to change the zoom level for the display's GUID: (see screenshots below)

1. Select (dot) Decimal.
2. Enter a value data number between 100 and 1600 for the zoom level percentage you want.
3. Click/tap on OK.

8 When finished, you can close Registry Editor if you like.
