This tutorial will show you how to change what your pen shortcut button does when you single-click, double-click, or press and hold the shortcut button for your account in Windows 11.

You can pair a pen via Bluetooth to connect the pen with your Windows 11 PC and use with the pen menu.

You can customize what your pen does when you single-click, double-click, or press and hold the pen's shortcut button.

Starting with Windows 11 build 26100.4202 (24H2), if your PC supports pen and inking, you can configure the shortcut button (usually at the tail of your pen) to open Click to Do with a single-click, with a double-click, or by press and hold. You can add Click to Do as one of the four apps in the pen menu on your PC. If all slots for the pen menu are full, you might need to replace one app with Click to Do in the menu settings.

Starting with Windows 11 build 26100.8116 (24H2) and build 26200.8116 (25H2), build 29570.1000 (Canary), and build 2800.1896 (26H1), Windows introduces a cleaner, modern pen setting experience. You can now choose the new Same as Copilot key option, which enables the pen tail button to open the same app as the Copilot key.

Reference:

If your pen has a shortcut button, make sure it's paired before making changes.

What do you do when the option for "OneNote Quick Notes" disappears, and because its not a program exe you can't add it? I don't know how my default one left, but it did and its driving me crazy.

Hello, and welcome to the forum. :alien:

I suppose for now, you could use the Windows + Alt + N keyboard shortcut to create Quick Notes.

Hi and thanks for the welcome.

Yes I have used that, however while holding my pen I have grown accustom to simply tapping that rear button once, and start sketching to show a customer an image/idea. Just was so much simpler, I am not even sure what happened or what I clicked to get things so messed up.
