Chrome resets to Edge default continually

Periodically I go through a routine of using PC Manager beta, Disk Cleanup and clean up browsing data in Chrome and afterwards when I open Chrome it asks me to reset my default browser. This requires six steps in default apps to get back to suing just Chrome and not Edge. Cant quite determine how its happening but I'd sure appreciate some tips to permanently lock Chrome as the default browser. Thanks in advance.

I don't know anything about PC Manager, but in the 2 optimizing programs I use I can set exclusions. Poke around in its settings to see if it offers the same.

I found this in relation to PCManager.
The Browser Protection tool prevents malicious apps from changing the default browser. Our system has Chrome as the default browser, but the app offered subtle hints to change it to Edge. It is part of Microsoft’s strategy to compel users to switch to Edge. There’s no harm in doing that, but it all boils down to personal preference. Click on Change the default browser option and set it to your favorite browser.

When I open PC Manager and click on Health check, there is an option under Potential issues named Reset default browser to Edge.

I only have checked Items to cleanup; Browser cache, Temporary files and System logs. I have unchecked everything else.

Thank You. I don't have the potential issues tab (see attached) and when I check change the default browser it shows its already set by another app. Maybe Windows default apps ?

That's interesting. Try running PC Manager as administrator and see if you can set your default browser. I use Firefox as default and haven't had any issues with PC Manager.

A delete and reinstall of PC Manager and opening it up as admin seems to have fixed the issue. For Now.
