clean install of W11 problems


Now that you have overcome the problem of not being able to install Windows 11 related to your USB drive configuration thanks to the very experienced members of ElevenForum, you have two choices:

1) You may keep your BIOS at default settings and use RUFUS to make bootable Windows 11 USB drive and overcome Windows 11 compatibility checks, which hinders Windows 11 installation. RUFUS integrates registry hacks into the Windows installation program to evade compatibility checks.

2) You may disable CSM to make Secure Boot active and enable AMD's fTPM. Since your CPU is compatible with Windows 11 as you say, there is nothing left making you unable to install Windows 11 forever.

One other thing to note: Windows 11 installations encrypt Windows partition. RUFUS has reg hack to avoid this. Otherwise, you may have to deal with very long BitLocker passwords. Be careful of this if you don't want BitLocker.

I just found a DVD of W11 dated April 2023 and tried to get it to run and got the same message "this pc can't run Windows 11"
This disk must be earlier than 24H2. I found the thread from some time ago and there were no answers, I remembered my password and that solved it for me.
Nobody has explained why I cannot get Windows running with a DVD ISO, there should not be any need for making a USB.
Athlon 3000G processors have SSE4.2.

The latest ISO is recommended.
Make sure when downloading the ISO it’s set to the same language (& country) as your current OS
You don’t have to take advice from members. You keep trying that DVD if that’s what you want to do.

As mentioned by other posters, when you reset the BIOS to the default settings, you probably made changes that are incompatible with Windows 11. Download and run the PC Health Check App to see what needs to be changed.

Wonders will never cease, on the upteenth attempt, trying witk both disks, Windows 11pro has installed, and updates are installing. I had not changed anything in the BIOS.

If you could install Windows 11 on BIOS reset, which means you don't have Secure Boot and fTPM, Windows 11 should not install and stop with a complaint: Windows cannot install on this PC, bla.. bla.. unless you have installed a modded Windows 11 DVD disk.

I have tried making a couple of USB sticks , 64gb formatted in NTFS and they both have 5906817024 bytes on them, but they are not even seen at boot up whichever socket they are in. I had to change their formatting from fat32 to NTFS to get Windows to install on them. The BIOS is set for UEFI. The Windows is the latest 24H2 version, as was the one that was on the pc before.The BIOS sees the Patriot ok. There will be no trouble activating Windows, it is not dodgy.

Error at 10% means two things:
1- windows image is modified and corrupted.
2- UEFI settings: RAID problem (use AHCI)
If not solved, reset bios and use default settings and tell us the result.

I have not read the entire thread, but of course you can make a DVD that will work. You simply need to be sure that the DVD you create has all the same modifications as you would make on a USB stick. For example, if you make mods to bypass Win 11 requirements, or prevent auto device encryption, etc. then you want to incorporate those same changes.

As for the USB stick, I'll save you the long explanation (unless you want it) but try the tutorial from Brink I have linked to below, option #3.

IMPORTANT: That procedure contains a small adjustment that is absolutely necessary for 24H2 otherwise installation fails at about 11% into copying files.

That procedure is the ONLY procedure I have used in several years now and it has NEVER once failed (unless there is some other system problem).
