I have been trying to reinstate the M2 drive to the C operating systam drive. The drive was originally fitted when I had W10 beta channel on the pc and the OS was successfully transfered to it from a 2.5 SSD. Then I got the system in line with the W11 requirements with TPM firmware, bit locker and secure boot with help from the forum members. After changing to DEV channel, Microsoft offered W11 and I upgraded. As soon as the beta channel was included in the W11 test program, I switched back to the beta channel, before the divergence of DEV and beta. I cloned the M2 to another 2.5 SSD and removed the M2, to fit in another pc which did not work. Later, I decided to put the M2 back in the pc and clone the OS back to it. It would not work.
Even after completely removing the bit locker, I have not been able to clone C onto the M2. It will function perfectly as a data drive.
I have tried Macrium reflect and Mini Tool Partition Wizard 10 with the same results. The drive ends up with 4 partitions as follows:
GPT (EFI SYSTEM PARTITION)
GPT (RESERVED PARTITION)
GPT (DATA PARTITION)
GPT (RECOVERY PARTITION)
The data partition in the C drive is marked BOOT, but not in the cloned drive.
When I try to boot from the M2, it ends up with a green screen saying "inacessible boot device".
Recovery options including cloud do not work.
I'm surprised that Windows does partially start.
The 2.5 SSD is in a caddy which can be switched on or off, and I can select the boot drive in the bios "windows boot manager (and the drive name)".
