For years I have never been not able to get the transparency feature in Windows 11 closed captionng to work. Have several PCs, laptop etc. all windows 11 Pro all up to date. I have seen references to this issue recently with a few users who have had the latest patches fixes etc. finally able to get it to work. But there are still users (like me) who just can not make it work like it should. Looking for any new ideas or suggestions. Overall the closed cap Win 11 thing does work well for me. The lack of proper transparncy in some areas is a minor thing. This known bug is just a small problem and I can certainly live with it .. It's just agrevating .. Been trying to make it work since it came out years ago. Any new news on this bug?

Hello, :alien:

In addition, you can use an option in the tutorial below to adjust the style and opacity of closed captions to help some.

What did you recommeend? I checked an old post of mine that you replied to where you said, " you can export your reg settings and make a .bat to import them and just schedule a task to import it constantly... wont hurt cpu resources at all and will keep applying your customization to cc"

If that is what you are refrring to it does not help. HOW does making a bat file help? What should the bat file contain? Could you give me an example?

configure your CC how you want it
open regedit
export
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ClosedCaptioning
use this tool (just for ease of testing)
convert .reg to .bat
drop .bat in your Shell:Startup folder
log off or reboot
when it runs, it should reapply your CC reg settings as you set them. if it works how you want it, we can beautify the process.

Sorry, I'm trying to understand the suggestion. First, I'll want to make a backup image of my PC system before I mess with the registry. PC in question is a kinda complicated Home theater PC that is run 24/7 and recording OTA and subscribed TV services all the time. I think I tried that mod a while back and it didn't work. Since then I have changed a lot of things so let me try it again with the newer Win 11 OS and hardware changes that have changed since I first reported this here in an older thread last october? Thanks I'll give it another try.
