I've been using the Windows 11 bulit in closed captioning option since it first became avialble. Works great. BUT I have NEVER been able to get the actual display opacity to work. I want a normal CC of white text only onto the desktop with the JUST the text displayed only. Everything else should be transparent so that just the white letters show on the displayed screen This is how any other 3rd party closed captioning setups work normally for me. But the windows 11 closed caption thing that is being displayed is always text on a solid color color background at FULL opacity and the entire graphic of the CC display is also fully displayed. When I change the opacity of the background (black color) to ZERO .. it is STILL displayed as a full 100 percent black color even though I have the opicity set to 0 zero.

Here are two screen caps of what I see when editing or using the windows closed caps. First screen is what is actually displayed as my custom CC setting. White text at 100 percent opacity on black background with zero percent opacity. Looks great on the editing screen example. It is saved and YET when I enable it when using "any video with audio content" what I get is the 2nd screen. Which looks like the "default" and DOES have the correct text type, color and opacity 100 percent BUT does NOT have the correct background .. Instead the background is AL:WAYS what ever color was chosen (in my case black) and NOT zero opacity but for some reason reverts back to FULL black opacity. I've been searching for a solution and just can not get this to work nromally.

As a deaf user, I prefer the classic white text on black background. Captions are easier to read.

you can export your reg settings and make a .bat to import them and just schedule a task to import it constantly... wont hurt cpu resources at all and will keep applying your customization to cc
