Configure Macrium to automatically an encrypted drive

I have an encrypted data partition which is part of a scheduled backup plan which of course works fine if the back runs while the PC is awake and I've unlocked the encrypted drive

Previously to the PC being rebuilt Macrium woke the PC if necessary to complete a backup and all was well

Therefore, I assume that Macrium was somehow configured with the Bitlocker password to automatically unlock the encrypted partition

I found an old printout of the command "$SecureString = ConvertTo-SecureString "<password>" -AsPlainText -Force; Unlock-BitLocker -MountPoint "<drive letter>:" -Password $SecureString" but obviously with the relevant password and drive letter substituted

Anyone know how I configure Macrium with the above command to automatically unlock the drive in the event that the PC is woken up for the backup task?

As far as I know, Macrium can’t actually save your BitLocker password, so the drive needs to be unlocked before the backup starts. The usual way to handle it is to edit the scheduled task in Task Scheduler and add a PowerShell action ahead of the Macrium one so it unlocks the drive as soon as the PC wakes up. Then the backup just runs as normal.

You also need to set an uncrypt/decrypt schedule just before the backup is run. There are command line options thatta can be used for a scheduled task

You also need to command line "recrypt" when the task is finished (alternatively, set the MR schedule to reboot when completed, that will reset encryption)

How do I set set an uncrypt/decrypt schedule?
(Assuming you're using Bitlocker - you don't state in your OP) Create a Bitlocker off command line instruction manage-bde etc (multiple configurations/options for the command line, depending on how tour Bitlocker encryption is set up - your search engine will be your friend) for Task Scheduler to run at a time before the Macrium is due to run, then schedule a Bitlocker command to turn on after the Macrium is complete

You may have to examine your Macrium logs to see how long it takes to be able to schedule a time to turn Bitlocker back on, although some programs do include a setting/option of what to do when the program is complete, Bitlocker may include being able to run the turn on command line or just re-boot the device
