Configure Windows 11 such that losing Bluetooth headset connection does not cause audio output to be automatically switched to speakers?

Currently when my Windows 11 machine loses the connection with my Bluetooth headset, the audio output automatically switches to my machine's built-in speakers.

Is there a way to configure Windows such that when connection with the Bluetooth headset is lost for any reason, all sound gets muted instead?

I do not believe there is a way to natively mute Windows audio when a device disconnects. There are third party programs that can do this.
Winmute being one.

If you don't want your computer to ever use the built-in sound device.

Go into Settings > Sound > All sound devices
Click the device you don't want to use
Under General click 'Don't allow'

That device will be disabled and it will default to no audio

I don't believe you even need to do that. You can just set the audio, using the volume mixer, to zero for the device(s) you do not want hear audio from.
