I have a Dell Inspiron 3030 desktop computer that my husband uses for playing on a video poker site. I have Logitech speakers connected to the pc and I control volume of those in the taskbar. However, on the video poker site there is a separate volume control. My husband keeps adjusting that, then adjusting the Logitechs, and back and forth. How do I set the volume mixer so he only has to use one volume control (either the poker site or our logitechs) while playing games. I just don't know how to set the volume mixer correctly. I usually have my logitech sound at around 38%. Any help would be appreciated.

You can't really. All three ( game, operating system and physical on speakers) will impact the volume

Ask him why fiddling with the poker site control is not sufficient.

Hi Arlene,

So let me understand what you are trying to accomplish here. Do you want to set the volume at a specific level, but allow you husband to adjust the volume to his preference when he plays a game?

If that is the case, I suggest that your husband adjust the volume level within the game only during game play and resist adjusting the volume of the speakers and Windows volume level.

Kind regards,

I guess he can adjust the volume level within the game only. Not a problem. I thought the volume mixer would let you set a volume for the poker site and each time you log on to the poker site it would be set properly. So I'm still not sure what the volume mixer is for.

In some cases, the Windows mixer does have a control (fader) for the internet or media player volume level. However, that is independent of the volume level within the game (site) itself. Further, the mixer will only reflect the output "device" only when it is present. That is, the game volume may appear only when the game is being played and not when the site is closed. Therefore, the volume will reset at the level in the Windows mixer, but cannot be set to a fixed level for whenever the site/game is visited.

The purpose of the Windows mixer is for the instance when you have more than one "device" or output available.

If I open the sound settings in system and go to volume mixer while I have the poker site open, the poker site appears under volume mixer. So I thought I had to set that volume for poker there.

Hi Arlene,

Well, you can but the game volume may not be available in the Windows Mixer if the game or site it not in play.

Thank you very much. Got it now. Basically, don't bother with the volume mixer. Just adjust the sound in the poker site; leave the logitech speakers alone. Appreciate your help.
