This tutorial will show you how to wirelessly connect your Windows 11 PC to a TV, projector, another PC, or other kind of external display that supports Miracast.

Miracast is a wireless technology your PC, laptop, or tablet can use to project your screen to wireless TVs, projectors, and streaming media players that also support Miracast. You can use this to share what you’re doing on your PC, present a slide show, or even play your favorite game on a larger screen.

Starting with Windows 11 build 22557, when casting (WIN + K) from your PC, a Cast icon will appear at the lower-left corner of your taskbar to show you are casting. Clicking the icon will open the Cast Quick Settings where you can quickly stop casting if needed.

Starting with Windows 11 build 22631.2129 (Beta), build 23516 (Dev), and build 26040 (Canary), Microsoft is making some improvements that focus on educating people about the Cast feature, improving its discoverability, and simplifying the overall experience in Windows 11. Those improvements include:
  • When doing multitasking activities on your PC such as often switching between windows to complete a task or using Snap Assist to organize your screen space, it will provide the suggestion to Cast via a notification toast.
  • Microsoft has updated the Cast flyout in Quick Settings with additional support for you in case you face any trouble discovering nearby displays, fixing connections, and more.
  • Microsoft will now provide inline setup of a PC from within the Cast flyout in Quick Settings, with step-by-step guidance for users to enable:
Starting with Windows 11 build 23635.2486 (beta), the improved screen casting experience introduced with Build 22631.2129 has been temporarily disabled to fix some bugs. Microsoft plans to re-enable this in a future Beta Channel flight.

I don't know if this is the right place to seek help, but I'm going put in here because it's so hard to find anything about this anywhere.

I have a problem with the miracast settings where it shows if you want it on a game mode, working mode, or watching videos. After I updated my windows 11 to build 22621, the option is gone from the top screen. But I read that they changed it to appear at the taskbar, but there is nothing on my taskbar besides wifi, audio, and battery status.

It appears the Control Banner has been removed along with the game mode, working mode, or watching videos settings. :(

Thanks for the info, kinda sucked that they remove this feature. I'm going to have to use the 1-second delay screen for now until they put it back.
