Okay, if I get this done correctly, I will provide two screen shots of what I encounter when I try to get a web site. I happened to choose Amazon.com, but a few others do the same thing. You really need to post a screenshot of what you're seeing. Now I'm wondering if you're having certificate issues. Please post a screenshot because otherwise all we can do is guess at your problem. IMHO, it's not your wireless adapter.
That is appreciated. It took me some time to realize that that thank-you is the best reward I can get.Thank you for your service.
Thanks, but it is too late: Seeing what passed for fire suppression equipment in our new town, two hand-drawn hose carts and a hand-drawn ladder cart, led me quite unexpectedly and rapidly to an entirely new and very rewarding new life. When I saw that, I said to myself "There has got to be a better way." It only took me thirty-three years to find out that there was such a thing....And let me add to what others have posted; thank you for your service! We're here to help.
Thanks for trying. I am not certain I understand, which is one of the matters at which I excel. For example, one site says to click on the top bar to find the SSID, which does not exist there. I have found it to be identical on both computers, on the task bar icon for the network connection and in the Windows Network and Internet page. I also turned off WiFi on the computer in question which as I expected turned off my connection to the rest of the world.I Googled your situation and came across an instance where the browser detects a "captive port" meaning you're accessing a Wi-Fi network which require that you log into it first with some credentials. If you view the Wi-Fi SSID on your wife's computer, is it a SSID you recognize? It almost sounds like you're not connecting to the network you think you are but that's just a SWAG.
