Solved Connection to Internet constantly changes on reboot

Whenever I reboot my PC, my Internet connection enables on my WIFI 2.4G router. However, I have my PC connected to the router with an ethernet cable. When I check available networks and their connection properties, every network within sight has 'connect automatically' checked (see picture). The problem is that when I remove the check on each network and exit, then go back and view available networks, the 'connect automatically' box is back in a checked status. I only want my PC to connect via the ethernet cable.

How can I permanently uncheck each available network so that when I reboot, my PC will automatically connect to the ethernet port?

It's checked in the event you actually connect to a given network so that it remembers to connect again automatically. It does not mean it's saved that way

I've had to do it and started by turning off/disabling the Wireless adapter in Device Manager and also turning off the Wi-Fi in Network & Internet. As long as Windows 'sees' any resources it will try to use them.

First, Ethernet should be automatically used when available and Wi-Fi not used. However, if you want to prevent Windows from connecting via Wi-Fi you can have Windows "forget" your Wi-fi network. To do this, go to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi - Manage known networks. Finally, click on "Forget" for your network. Windows will no longer be able to automatically connect to that Wi-Fi network.

Still, shouldn't I have the ability to change the 'connect automatically' parameter? If my WIFI and ethernet go away, I don't want the PC to continuously try to connect to a neighbor's router or a hotel 2 blocks away. Saying 'do not connect automatically' should do this but how do I do it?

Forget those networks as I noted in post #4. That prevents it from trying to connect automatically. Once that is done you can select the network again and enter the password, just DON'T tick the box to automatically connect.

Same here. I had to do the same thing by turning off both the Wireless adapter in device manager and the W-Fi switch.

That way guaranteed that it would stay off, unless I actually went in and manually reversed the process, which I have had to do on occasion...

Make sure this is the result by right-mouse clicking it, and select disable in the right mouse click menu.

The 'connect automatically' only applies to a network you have already connected to. Your computer will never attempt to connect to your neighbors SSID unless you have already connected to it and left that box ticked
