Consequences of deleting my “C:\Users\l* ” folder contents

After a warning from Windows 11 that my HDD is getting dangerously low I checked contents. I find that about half (one TB) is occupied by my “Users” subfolder. See the image below (personal info redacted). Is it okay to delete the contents (or most of) of this folder? Presumably most of the contents of this folder is redundant and resident elsewhere on one of my local drives. I’ll save the really important stuff locally.redacted.webp

It looks like you are using WinDirStat to examine the file sizes stored on your HDD. Before deleting things, you could expand on the II-**** user account directory, by clicking on the "+" symbol next to the folder name. That will tell you which subfolder, and ultimately, which file(s) are using most of that 1TB space.

Not everything in users should be deleted ...specificaally appdata and your user folders. You can delete any files in your user folders that you please.

My Users folder... the whole thing, is just under 3GB.
And 99% of that is the AppData folder.
Last I checked, 1TB was 1000GB.

I would definitely try to find out why your Users folder is so large. ^^

    Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 15 years?
Wiztree's cushion map will let you see that quickly. Hovering the mouse over items gives immediate info.

Also has a tree view of course. Free.

Plus it shows all hidden items and is not subject to normal protections (= can delete anything e.g).
