Copy, Cut and Paste Problem

I am having some really strange problems with copy, cut, paste, (clipboard), etc with Win 11. I've already lost 2 folders. I have no idea where they went. I do have backups and got them from there, but it's getting dangerous.

At first, I thought I was going crazy. But I know now, it's not me. It's Win 11.

I did a search for this problem and dozens and dozens of generic fixes popped up. All different, with no real fix specifically for Win 11. Just try this or that. These were all just troubleshooting, without really finding a cause. Or even a fix. Just troubleshooting.
I'm sure this is a Win 11 problem with a simple fix. Maybe?

Has anyone found a fix specifically for Win 11?

What version of Win 11 and how did you install it? No issue with a clean install here.

I haven't had any problems with cut, copy or paste. If you don't find a solution you can try a in-place repair install. Repair Install Windows 11 with an In-place Upgrade

Hello,
I did a clean install of Win 11 Home the day it was released. I've had no other problems at all except this.
For the first time, today I was working with many files and started noticing there was a problem. Sometimes I'd do a "cut" and when I went to paste it elsewhere, it wasn't there.
I did a search on this problem before I posted here and have verified that many people are having this same problem. Most of the fixes I found involved page after page registry edits and scans, etc. None of these "fixes" really fixed anything, they were suggestions to try.

I just tried and did a Cut of a file on Win11 then Pasted into a folder on one of my NAS drives, worked. Then I did a Copy of that file on the NAS drive and Paste back to a different folder on Win11, worked. Couldn't replicate the problem given.

Try a search for "clipboard problems with windows 11".
I'm not saying it does this every time. Maybe 1 out of five. Or, I paste it into a desktop folder and it ends up in "Documents", instead of "Desktop".
Berton, it sounds like you're OK. Maybe someone who is having this problem has found a fix? I ran sfc /scannow and Dism /online /Cleanup-Image /restorehealth, no problems found.

Does it have anything to do with the new right click menu that W11 uses ?

Possible since most of the right-click features appear after clicking Show more options.

That's what I was thinking.
If I click "show more options" and choose what I want from the "old" menu, it works OK.
I think it has to do with the new icons at the top for copy/past, etc.
I'm going to use the "old" copy/paste for a few days and see if that's it.

I have exactly the same problem with copy and paste. Did you find a solution?
Inplaceupgrade didn‘t help.

You have to change the right click menu to the way it is in W10 if you want.
It`s a simple regedit. But even so, the icons should still work. I changed it because I just didn`t like the new layout.
