Copying from NAS Backup to Program Files/AppData etc - Fails

Hi all

I am at a bit of a loss. I just clean installed my PC including a full C drive format and when I try and copy things from my backup drive on my NAS, I am forced to copy it locally first. I had previously updated from 10 to 11 and didn't have this issue.

I set UAC to not notify and made sure that I am an Admin. My data is on a private NAS share, so I use "different credentials" when mapping drives to my NAS and I am assuming this is where the issue occurs. When I try to copy from my NAS to C: - It says I need to confirm admin, and then errors when I do because that drive isn't mapped for the admin user.

I have been searching around for a while and can't seem to find a solution that doesn't involve taking ownership of my entire C drive...which I am loathe to do as I recall that having some detrimental impact on Windows in the past.

Would anyone have any suggestions? Right now I am forced to copy things locally before moving them to their final destination.

I use a NAS drive for storage but do find an issue with copying directly to the C: drive [seems to be a protective feature of Windows] so I have created a folder called Transfer and copy into it then move to the desired location.

Yeah - That's what I am doing right now - But I didn't need to do it before I re-installed earlier today..it's weird

Made a slight improvement - Created a user on my NAS with the same password as my MS Account and the account name of my MS Account Short Name (taken from the Users folder name) - Now it only restricts me for Program Files / Program Files (x86)

Seems Windows has restrictions on those folders, limits to installation routines rather than direct copy.
