General Create Shortcut to Abort Pending Restart or Shutdown in Windows 11

This tutorial will show you how to create an Abort shortcut to cancel any pending scheduled system restart or shutdown in Windows 10 and Windows 11.

If a restart or shutdown with a time-out period is pending, you can use this Abort shortcut to quickly cancel the restart or shutdown if needed before the time-out period expires.

Here's How:

1 Right click or press and hold on an empty area on your desktop, and click/tap on New and Shortcut.

2 Copy and paste the command below into the location area, and click/tap on Next. (see screenshot below)



3 Type Abort for the name, and click/tap on the Finish button. (see screenshot below)

You can name this shortcut anything you like.

4 Right click on this Abort shortcut, and click/tap on Properties.

5 Click/tap on the Change icon button. (see screenshot below)


6 Click/tap on OK. (see screenshot below)


7 Select an icon you want to use for this shortcut, and click/tap on OK. (see screenshot below)


8 Click/tap on OK. (see screenshot below)


9 You can Pin to Taskbar, Pin to Start, add to Start menu All apps, assign a keyboard shortcut to, or move this shortcut to where you like for easy usage.
