Credential Manager lists only a few WEB credentials of the hundred+ Saved Logins. So it's apparently not designed to be a PW manager.

Why those selected few is a mystery.

When any credential that it does list is opened it prompts for a password. But what password? No instructions seen on the WEB have unearthed it.

No Windows log-in PW has ever been configured for this PC; it's a single-user box. Perhaps that would be the PW?

Edge doesn't use the built-in Windows cred manager. IE did back in the day, and other programs could leverage it. If there are any sites you visit for which you use the IE compatibility mode those also would use the cred manager

As for WEB creds, the feature appears to be legacy. It's not suitable as a PW manager. Thanks for the insight.

All modern browsers have the option to save your user names and passwords. To access this feature each time, you have to provide your Windows Login Password.

There appears to be no need to log into the Microsoft account, which is normally logged out.
No local account here; a PW sign-in has never been configured to use the system.

Correction on the above. The local account is used here, with the Microsoft account rarely logged in.
