crimp.rf.gd Privacy Defender has appeared in my Chrome. It slows the browser to zero and opens random Amazon pages. Is it a browser hijacker and how do I remove it? It's own website says to remove the extension from Chrome but I have no extension called Crimp or Privacy Defender.

Help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It's likely a PUP (potentially unwanted program) or in this case extension. Click the three dots, extensions and remove the extension

It seems that it could be related to a url shortener.
Even the shortener site has the same name. Crimp URL

Can you provide a screenshot of what you see? That would help.

It doesn't show anything except pages from Amazon.

Well you may want to just reset Chrome. Extensions and/or software installs modifying Chrome (such as adding extra pages that load on Chrome launch) are common.

You can go into the Settings page within Chrome and there should be a 'reset settings' option
