Customise "FileExplorer" to open a specific folder

I would like FileExplorer to open at %HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH% and for this to work from the taskbar icon as well as Winkey-E. I had my user folders in quick access but then they don't "expand to open folder". I have created a new shortcut in Start but my muscle memory way of opening FileEpxlorer is Winkey-E.

I think you can open that path from File Explorer folder options.

I overcame this by adding user folders in Winareo. It’s not ideal but works. I shall post screenshots as soon as it is possible

I installed Winaero Tweaker

1 Navigate to Customize This PC Folders
2 Selected the User Folder ex Music
3 Remove it
4/5/6/7 Added a Custom folder (same folder ex Music)

(Repeat the process for all user folders and any other folder you want to add to the top of This PC so as to "expand to")




8 The folder now appears at the top of This PC
9 Remove the User Folder/s from Quick Access.
Clicking on a folder in section 8 in the image, utilizes/allows the process of "Expand to folder" in the right pane of File Explorer





This isn't ideal but at least it brings back the expand to folder (wherever that went?) which I rely on to save time.

If you're not happy with this, remove all the folders in Winaero and re add the original ones (Add Shell Location)
Or use the reg files in this tutorial to restore the original folders.

1 Clicking on the user folder opens the content in the right pane (2)
Clicking on a folder in the right pane opens it/expands it under the user folder (3)

It's easily set via the Options menu in WinSetView.

Select shell:Profile from the Special Folders menu.
