Data transfer by cable from windows 10 to11 laptop

I have a windows 10 Acer Aspire5733 Series laptop, ASUSVivo 16 modelM1605Y Windows 11laptop and a USB 3.0 A to A data transfer cable.Can I please be advised on connections and a workflow to transfer apps, progs,docs, images and videos.

Hi & welcome,
I am a bit unsure why a USB cable would come into play.

- Connect both systems to your network.
- Install programs & Apps anew on new system.
- Map network drives & Copy personal files to new system.

You don't mention if you have a MS account or OneDrive set-up, use any Sync-ing mechanism,
therefore it becomes difficult to go into details.

There are also 3rd party tools that can help you.
Please perform a search within this forum in the tutorial section as well.

Simple, no need for complications.
"transfer apps, progs"
Install those on the new W11 Laptop.

"transfer docs, images and videos."

Copy to a USB stick and copy to new W11 Laptop.

I'm with the USB drive crowd, much easier and no fooling around with transfer cables. Of course, if they're on a network, then you don't have to plug anything in. However, if they're wireless, large file transfers may take more time, depending on the amount of data and your network speed.

As stated, attaching a USB HDD or Flash drive to the old computer and dragging or Copying and Pasting the C:\User\UserName files (ie) Downloads, Desktop Documents, Pictures etc to the USB drive.
Then reverse the process on the new laptop.

I've never used one. I have always copied files manually, and installed apps anew.

I'm surprised that MS hasn't come up with a tool to assist in the migration from 10 to 11, especially as they've strong-armed many PC owners to drop 10. (IMHO.)
