Hi all as you may be ware I have been looking for help regarding my Dell Inspiron 15 3515 freezing black screen and coming back on with out a care in the world is this a general problem with Dell or could it be a one off as I am looking to possibly get another Dell my specs are below for the one I own Removed ID on device and product

you can also check the reliability monitor to check for recent errors.
control panel > security and maintenance > maintenance > reliability monitor

then check 'problem devices'
system tools > system information > components > problem devices

which should show any recent errors or events.

also please open a command prompt as Administrator and write this
sfc /scannow

Do you use the Dell support tools. One is Support Assist

SupportAssist for Home PCs | Dell Canada

The other is Dell Update.

I've found these have kept the few Dell's I support up to date. On my wife's Dell I was installing drivers from vendors sites which caused issues and was told by Dell support I should stick to their drivers.

Did you check if the HDMI video connection to an external monitor works when you get a black screena as I mentioned on the other thread? You might have a loose / faulty laptop gpu cable if so.
