Hi,

How can the color of fonts be reduced on the desktop icons, as you see in the attachment they look quite dark........

You're talking about the colour of the text under the icons, right? Windows changes this automatically from light to dark or vice versa depending upon the color of the background you use. I don't think you can change this yourself, at least not without using a third party tool.

They're not actually dark, they are white with a dark border so they should be readable on any shade of background. There is only one setting I know that can modify this. Turn off 'Smooth edges of screen fonts' in Performance Options. That will however change the appearance of all fonts, not just the desktop icons.

When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October.

You're talking about the colour of the text under the icons, right? Windows changes this automatically from light to dark or vice versa depending upon the color of the background you use. I don't think you can change this yourself, at least not without using a third party tool.

That is the set of checked boxes you invariably end up with if you select 'Let Windows choose what's best...'. If you select 'Adjust for best appearance' it checks the lot, and 'Adjust for best performance' has none checked. Unless you have a really underpowered processor it hardly makes any significant difference to the performance anyway, so tick whatever you like :wink:
