Solved Desperately Need Help - Outlook - Lost all Outlook mail settings and emails

@dburne
Close Outlook 365 for me and do us a favour.
- Login to your Hotmail address online (easiest)
- OR Open Windows Mail, add your hotmail account, sync and tell us if your folders appear.
I just want to rule out a possible setting or two haven’t changed in Outlook 365

Good morning gang,

Ok so before we go any further with any of this let me give you some more information that may be pertinent.
First - I run Office 365 with the annual subscription. I had it set to sync all my Outlook information with my iPhone.
I am pretty sure what caused all this was suddenly I was seeing iCloud running on my PC. I had never seen that before and no idea why that was. So I disabled that service. Pretty sure that is what started this whole mess.

Now for the really, most awesome news! After digging into my Outlook on my iPhone, I discovered all my emails, all my email folders even the ones I created to store emails in, all my critical information - registrations, passwords, etc. is still there on my iPhone!! Years worth of critical information I still have access to on my phone. Yeehaw!!

So how about we start fresh again now from this post. I am a little scared that somehow Outlook on my PC is going to manage to reach it's grubby hands to my cell phone and wipe all that out. Man I am so glad I had it set to sync between the pc and phone. Rest assured, I am not touching a single thing at this point until I am advised to and then I will be scared lol.

Also I would mention iCloud on PC is running again and I am not about to touch it either.

Thanks again for all the effort you fine folks are putting in to try to help me, I every much appreciate it! I am so elated that in fact I have not lost all that critical years worth of email information!! Now if we can just figure out how to get it back on my PC Outlook without managing to lose what is on the phone.

I do find it amazing though that my data can not be simply restored from my recent disc image. I can either restore the image of the C: drive or explore the image and pull individual files out of it to put in PC.

Just a tip:
Any Important mail I need to save gets dragged to my Outlook Saved folder as a .msg file...

(Other clients may save them as .eml files.)

If it’s on your phone, then it should be on the server. Go to control panel > icon view > mail > create a new profile and leave the old one intact. Launch outlook when done and choose the new profile when prompted. See if it all syncs again.

Ok thanks, I will say I am quite nervous about this - if I were to lose it all on my phone...
How often does Outlook sync with the cloud?

Ok trying to work up the nerve. Sounds mighty easy when most others were giving me directions much more complex. Be patient with me, trying to work up the nerve. I would die if I lost the data I have on my phone.

No I could not access my passwords till this morning and forgot all about it.
Yes all my emails/folders are still there on my Comcast account.
Next step?

If they are on the web account, then you haven't deleted them - Outlook simply went goofy and stopped showing them for whatever reason. So, re-creating your account in Outlook to access them should get them right back showing again.

Just be sure - on the web interface for your Comcast account, all emails are where they are supposed to be, and not in a trash / deleted folder, right?

Yep they appear to all be where they should be.
Recreating the account - per the instructions above regarding creating a new profile ?

Yeah, it's best if you create a new profile with a new profile name. Once you know it works, you can make that profile the default and delete the older, broken profile.

Ok so I am about to give this a try, reckon I am as ready as will ever be. Gives me great comfort all my emails reside on the Comcast server and will not be touched at all so I will not truly lose them if this goes south. Will report back hopefully shortly.
