Difficulty with Screen Dimensions

I am in a care home and, after some considerable time, managed to purchase a monitor for my LG Oled TV. Unknown to me (my fault) the specs required a lower spec monitor. This I now have but the dimensions now are different - eg apps larger. The dimensions are different obviously so I presume that after running simulation for Trainz 2022 I have to change them.
Do I and if so how please? Strange really, I'm only 90

Assistance would be appreciated.

Speaking from the 82 side, right-click a blank area on the screen and check Display Settings, usually the Recommended is best but maybe not for the eyes. Also check the Scaling, I like 125% on Notebooks. What one can end up with will also depend upon what the graphics adapter supports. My latest Desktop [2 weeks ago] did not come with a VGA port and rather than a new PCIe X16 Add-in card I use a $15 Display Port to VGA adapter, works quite good. Or I could have used an HDMI to VGA adapter. My monitor is older.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand your post.

Are you using an LG OLED TV as a monitor, connected to a PC?

If that's correct, the native resolution of the TV will be 3840 X 2160 (sometimes called 4k). If you click on the Start button, choose Settings, and then Display at the top of the window. Make sure that the resolution is set to 3840 X 2160. The normal scaling is set to 150% for that resolution.

I hope that's the advice you need, but I'm far from certain.

Thanks very much for your prompt reply. Unfortunately I do not know the best for my monitor as each time I choose a setting in the simulation its not suitable - icons on screen too large. I will contact the company. an use recommended. Ahhhh, latest TVs!

Thanks for reply. Indeed my computer's resolution is much higher than simulation programme. It only allows pnp monitor which is problem. Have spent time using help desk of LG who says contact MS and sim company who states that they do not want to re programme etc due to small staff. Understandable.

The best for a monitor is its native resolution, which is 3840 X 2160 for an LG 4k TV. And set the scaling to 150%. If you don't like that, try 125% or 100%. That will make the icons smaller.

You may want to get some in person help, if it's available.

if its purely the App icons size, just right click on a blank part of your screen select view and change it to small

Large resolutions in Windows 10 and 11 automatically change the scaling so you can easily see the icons and text on screen. Default for 1920x1080 is 150% on TV or 125% on a laptop or PC monitor. Default for 3840x2160 is 300% on TV, don't know for monitor. Some applications (as must be your case) cannot cope well with this enlargement. No need to change your scaling for all applications. Right-click on the shortcut, select Properties, go to Compatibility tab, check the box Disable fullscreen optimizations. Also click on Change High DPI settings, then check the High DPI scaling override box and set it to application (not sure, you may have to experiment with this).

Default scaling on a UHD monitor (3840 X 2160) is 150%. I'm surprised that it's different on a UHD TV. I've never tested it.

Default on an 8k (7680 X 4320) monitor is 300%.

Default scaling on TV is larger because you watch it from greater distance than you watch a monitor.

Using a 1920x1080 Samsung tv as third monitor here and its default is 100.

It is 3840x2160 but my laptop's card is not fast enough, so I set the resolution to 1920x1080.
