i set screen brightness to best efficiency, how do i turn it off, cant just untick it

As far as I can find, it's not a Windows 11 setting. It's probably proprietary to your laptop PC.

A quick online search gives no help with the Asus settings.

Something to try

  • Open Settings
    Press Windows + I to open the Settings app.
  • Go to Display Settings
    Navigate to:
    System → Display
  • Scroll to Brightness & Color
    You’ll see a "Brightness" slider.
  • Expand Advanced Brightness Settings
    Below the brightness slider (or in some cases a link like “Brightness settings”), look for:
    • “Change brightness automatically when lighting changes”
    • “Help improve battery by optimizing content shown and brightness”
      (This is the Content Adaptive Brightness Control or CABC setting)
  • Turn both OFF

I rarely use my cheap Lenovo laptop.

I checked it. It has a slider for display brightness, but none of the Advanced stuff, as far as I could spot.

Depending on how it has been implemented with a given Laptop.

Laptop manufacturers may put several Power Plans in the Power Options.

Control Panel > Power Options > Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings > look thru all the branches in there for graphics settings.
The 3 choices on mine (Intel) are - Max battery life, Balanced, Max performance.
Select > Apply > OK.
The first of those selections may lower brightness which does lower power consumption.

Also look in the AMD integrated GPU control panel, I presume there is one.

They appear in Windows 11 settings, but slightly different wording.
System > Power > Power & battery > Power mode.

Just to make things easier for the for any future needs: clicking on the battery or speaker icon in the taskbar let you modify the brightness settings of your screen.
