Hi all,

Ever since I replaced my monitor, I cannot open the Display Settings. I have tried all the suggestions I could find.

- Restart
- Shutdown and wait a few minutes
- Repair and Reset of the Settings app
- SFC
- DISM
- Group Policy change
- Registry edits/additions
- dxdiag
- In-place repair

What's the monitor, and model number?

Have you tried going to the monitor manufacturer's website and see if you can download any drivers for it?

please have a look here there are a few command line settings you can try to repair or start
display settings which should enable you to reset/repair the display settings within Windows.

best of luck, Steve ..

Download Intel Graphics Command Center from Microsoft Store and use that to change resolution etc. What if you open Settings first, then navigate to System, Display? Does that open? If it does, then there is something wrong with your right-click context menu.

What are the ratings of your video output(s), can it provide 4k 3840 x 2160 60Hz.
You will also require decent quality HDMI/DisplayPort cables up to that spec, and have spare cables so you know what are good.

Also check for annoying monitor Green/Eco settings, like auto off due to inactivity detection.

It could just be DOA.

I believe it’s 4K 30fps. I am using high quality HDMI cables. It’s the PC, cause when I’m using the monitor with my work PC (same cable), the display settings work flawlessly.

You may get better help if you fill in the PC's specs. I assume that you're using an integrated Intel GPU, but I don't know for sure.

Copilot suggests trying using a command to bypass the GUI. Windows+R to open a command line, then ms-settings:display to open the display settings.

I suggest otherwise running sfc/scannow (system file checker) from a command line window with admin privileges. May not help, but it should do no harm.

You can open Settings, but when going to System -> Display nothing happens? You get an error message? What exactly? Go to Device Manager, expand Display Adapter and manually replace (update drivers) the graphics card to Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. Restart. See if Display Settings work now with the generic graphics card. Download the DDU utility to completely remove any trace of the graphics drivers. Restart and let Windows automatically install a driver. Check if Display Settings still works. Install latest Intel graphics drivers directly from Intel. If you get a warning you must download from manufacturer do that, otherwise keep the Intel drivers.

PS: I mean the latest Intel driver for your specific graphics card, not the latest in general. Go to Settings, System, Info to see which Intel CPU you have. Google that. Open the Intel result (usually first). Go to downloads and download the graphics drivers.

I'm a little confused here. Rather than sending you around in circles, this seems cut and dried to me. If display settings work with the old monitor but not when you connect the LG one, common sense says the monitor is not compatible with your personal computer in some way. As was stated, either settings in the monitor itself or your integrated intel graphics won't handle 4k (which I believe to be most likely. )You gave us no info about your hardware so we can not verify that.
Also You did not say if this LG monitor uses the same type of connector port as your old monitor., ie: are both monitors connected through hdmi, or is one monitor hdmi and the other DP or vga? If you changed connection type, then it can also be that the newly used graphics port is flakey (not likely but possible)

If you can open Display Properties but there is no available list of resolutions to choose from, that's a different issue. If this is your problem as @glasskuter put it, then either you have not suitable drivers for your graphics card, or the capabilities of the monitor cannot be read properly and is locked to a specific resolution (hence no list). Try another cable or a different connection from the PC to the monitor, if there is more than one. As a last resort you can force a custom resolution using the Intel utility.

PS: Can you send a screenshot of what you see exactly? We will understand the issue.

It's a Beelink EQI miniPC. It has an i5-12450H, 32GB DDR4, 500GB NVMe M.2 SSD, Intel Graphics capable of 4K.

I already tried the Run Command window, along with every other way to open the Display Settings.

SFC and DISM were run.

So you can't open Display Settings at all, or you can but there is no resolution to change into? What is the problem? In the first case there is something wrong with the system files. If SFC and Dism didn't fix it, you may try to download the Windows 11 ISO, open it and start Setup to do an in-place upgrade repair. Just make sure you download the same language to let you keep your data and apps. Scroll down to the third option, download the ISO directly. In the second case you probably need to install proper graphics drivers for your Intel CPU, see link below. Don't rely on Windows Update, download the official Intel driver directly from Intel for best compatibility.

Tried this. No go :'(

I always have the latest drivers. I use the Intel Driver Tool.
I have already tried an in-place repair using the ISO.
