The proper way would be to set Norton to register with Defender, thereby disabling defender and leaving Norton as your only realtime protection.

Did you use some kind of script to disable Defender?

I have Norton 360 ultimate security and don't need defender running so I wanted to disable it. Also the virus and threat protection, I get this pop up box
That brings up the question, have you done anything trying to disable it?

I can not attest to Norton as I wouldn't touch that AV with a 10 foot pole, but normally the 3rd party AV registers itself during install. Also normally, once a 3rd Party AV registers with Defender your settings>security will reflect that another AV is managing your protection.
Question 1- Is Norton running in task manager?
Quetion 2 Is Windows Defender running in task manager?

If both are running, the only suggestion I have is to completely uninstall Norton using its removal tool, and restart. Verify that you can access Windows security settings correctly and nothing is grayed out. If anything is grayed out with Norton uninstalled, now is the time to troubleshoot that issue.
Reinstall Norton again to see if it will register correctly in windows security and automatically disable defender.

Norton is running in task manager but I don't see defender. Defender stuff is running in services though

I've had this happen to me before, and this is what I had to do to make that admin message go away.

Pull up your Settings, then Apps, then Installed Apps. Scroll down 'til you see System components, and click on that. Click the three dots next to Windows Security, and click on Advanced options. Scroll down 'til you see the two options under Reset. I don't remember off the top of my head if it was the Repair option or the Reset option that made it work again, but one of them did work.

To repair “Page Not Available - Your IT administrator has limited access to some areas of this app and the item you tried isn't available”

Download SecurityHealthSetup - Link (Microsoft Catalog)

Click on the top one I suppose should do it.

🔗 Download SecurityHealthSetup from the Microsoft Catalogue

  • Save the executable to the desktop.
  • Right-click on the file "SecurityHealthSetup.exe" and choose "Run as administrator".
  • Let it finish, Reboot.

The above setup file automatically creates the missing SecurityHealth platform folder named "1.0.2402.27001-0" which is needed and probably empty if you look. I think it’s C:\Windows\System32\SecurityHealth

Here is a reply from the person I last gave this to. It worked for them.
