Solved Display Timeout and Lock Screen settings?

Hello All,

From a Security standpoint this is quite concerning.

Whenever I set my Turn off Display after 30 Minutes or even to NEVER and set my Lock Screen idle time out to 15 Minutes, then after 15 Minutes the Screen never locks.

Why is this?

    Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 15 years?
When the screen is set to turn off after 10 minutes for example, and the machine lock screen idle time being set after 15 minutes, does that mean the machine will lock right after the screen turns off or will the machine lock itself in addition to the 10 minutes screen off time?

In other words, the machine itself will have to wait for another additional 15 minutes (after the screen display turns off after the 10 minutes) until I have to unlock it again?

I think you're over-thinking this.
With the above tutorial, you right click the desktop and "turn off display" turns off the display.
If you click "lock the computer and turn off display" it turns off the display and any key or mouse movement, brings you to the login screen.

Give up the old way, embrace the new way.
It's much easier. :-)



I'm am the last person to appreciate change. But this was a change for the better.

Thanks for your kind suggestion.

But I will leave it as screen display time off after 10 minutes with machine idle time out lock to 15 minutes.

I think this is would be a good balance.

I see it as pointless anyways because I'm the only person that is using the machine at home and not in a public place.
