Do you use your principal computer for game playing?

What is so puzzling about that? I still play every chance I get.
I buy a new gaming notebook every five years whether I need one or not
and donate the older one to someone who needs it.
It's just keeping up with new teck and now that MS has new rules

I totally understand your curiosity, up until a few years ago I didn’t get it, not that everyone plays games because of the reason I do.

This has happened and I spent a week in jail for what was called an “unprovoked attack” it didn’t start out as an “attack” he swung at me first after I said a few choice things to him.
The point is, GTAV is a release for me, I can deal with my frustrations by shooting up bikies and drug dealers as apposed to dealing with rudeness and disrespect outside of my home by reacting, of which I see whenever I leave the house. It actually works for me. Rather than react, I bottle it knowing that when I get home, I can blow

up. I just have to hope I am not far from home. No… Anger Management classes do not work for me.

I'm 11 years retired. The computer itself became the game long ago. I always have a notebook or two that are way more powerful than I really need. Just for fun. Even computer problems are fun. Well, most of the time.

Once upon a time, I loved video games. I put a lot of quarters in Space Invaders, Pac-Man, and Centipede. So much so that I started a video game side business so I could get some of those quarters back. And then there was the Mattel Intellivision home game. The two-player sports games were a lot of fun on my 27" tube TV.

Not much patience for games now. But every couple of years, I fire up DosBox on a notebook and play the original Prince of Persia 1 and 2. I thought those were the best games ever programmed. Still do. Engaging, clever, and just the right combination of skillful action, puzzles, and surprises. There is still a community today where people from around the world program new variations of those games.

It would have been great if today's sophisticated games existed during my gaming days. I'm sure I would have enjoyed them.

But things change. As Popeye said, "I yam what I yam."

My late father loved playing first person shooter games until his last year at 95. He found the mental challenge of killing dozens of people a day most relaxing.

Plenty of quality killing in those games.

I love the double barrel shotgun.

In the original Unreal... I loooove the Flak Cannon.
Ya gotta love a gun that uses a piston action to shoot... chunks of metal.

In my younger days, I used to do a lot of gaming. A bunch of us would stay after work and play networked games together. We would be up until we noticed the sun rising, head home, get one hour sleep, then do it all over again.

Now I play very infrequently, but I still love the old Rise of Nations game. I play with a good friend. The nice thing about that game is that you can play a complete game from start to finish in roughly an hour.

I bought my retirement computer earlier this year. Blazing fast! Downloaded Steam and 4 or 5 games. Realized quickly that I’m no gamer lol. Uncoordinated, slow, aggravating to say the least. Maybe I need old fogey games? Regardless, everything else runs very fast, and editing 4K video is a breeze!

I have some nice 'retirement machines' too, but the only game I still play regularly is this one.... :wink:

The only games I play are word games such as the NYT's Spelling Bee. I can stop midway and pick up later. Managed to get to genius level today!

I have a whole collection of them.
I have been collecting them since 2013.
Most you can get for free (not pirated)
on a few sites. I do however, have a good
collection on Steam as well.

I don't waste my time on games, If I get really really bored waiting for something important to finish I may start a game of solitaire, but dump that as soon as the computer is ready to go again for constructive use

My shortcomings? When provoked with disrespect & arrogance, I am a violent man with the capacity to cause physical damage. As per my first post in this thread. Borderline psychopath has been suggested on occasion. I disagree, I have a lot of compassion toward my fellow (respectful) human being… and animals. As for educational games, my son played many as a young man in primary and secondary school. A few helped him a lot. I couldn’t really remember any, but there was one that helped with his introversion (on-line communications with other players), however, joining a real life Soccer (football) team had proven to provide the most benefits.
