Never is the actual answer.

Now we are on yearly major upgrades, the next major upgrade will be late 22 (Beta version will eventually converge to next release).

The Dev version is always ahead of the release version. Gradually features from Dev version get released to Beta version (but not necessarily all).

So we can expect some of the features in current Dev to move to Beta version for release in second half of 22.

Even if you decided to leave Dev, and move to Beta Channel, it would take until next year (23H2)for the Beta Channel to catch up with current Dev version, and it will be quite different anyway.

I understand because the bata channel is closer to the stable channel but I just thought I would ask,

Since the first 2 numbers are the year and the H stands for Half and the last digit is for which Half, first or second, the second may be quite awhile away but as announced by Microsoft the system is changing to once yearly Version upgrades. I'd think the Build updates will continue as-is.
