Not surprising they wont install if you tried runing them on a different os.

If anybody is running win7 sp0 , you need to update it to sp1.

there are a couple of ways to do it.

One way is to d/l and install the sp1 update.

the other way is to do a repair install using win7 media that already has sp1 included which requires a little cheat

Hmm. I was installing, yet in the middle of it Windows decides “what a perfect time to update the system..”


Perhaps it wasn’t an update, as now It is in the windows 7 installation again. This time not in a program found in windows 10. I decided to just edit this post rather than posting a new one, as otherwise I would be spamming a bit!

Negative. I tried R 3.22 and fails again with the same way. It freexes at starting installation screen.

At 19:15, currently completing installation. Display looks warped and stretched, possibly missing drivers but nothing that couldn’t be solved within Windows 7.

At 19:20, starting windows screen is showing - and now the set up windows section. It has officially now installed. Will report when I have windows 7 set up.

I mounted the iso downloaded, and opened Setup.exe (within windows 10)

are you installing win7 on that b450 mobo ?

It has installed, and I am amazed! It doesn’t need any drivers.

No, on a different computer not listed in my specs. It is a dell inspiron 3252 from 2015

Actually, I’m wrong. It needs internet drivers. Wish me luck in finding those.

So what we got until now :
1) The only installation it seems work is with DVD (007 says it if understand OK)
2) All other attempts fail. I dont have double layer DVD to try 007 way
3) After all attemts :
-C: SSD appears problem at the boot. Windows 11 auto fix that.
-Cant connect a bluetooth mouse Microsoft 3600 that i can before these attempts
-Wifi mouse who appears the problem with click it looks working better now (!!!!!!!!!!!! unrelated). It requires to keep sometime the button click to do the one-click operation.
-Outlook 2019 cant sychronize. I will reintall it in try to fix.
-I guess the problem finally isn't the performance but mouses problem with the old machine. Bluetooth mouse works OK at new machine.
-I will test the wifi mouse to new machine to see if it works OK. If yes , the old machine have an unknown problem with mouses. If not the wifi mouse has problem and the same time the old machine cant see the bluetooth mouse sho is OK.
After mouses testing i will update.

UPDATE 1) , some critical conclusions :
1) I tested the wifi mouse to the new machine and it has the same problem. So the wifi mouse creates the problem not the old machine.
2) Until do the failed attempts , the old machine could pair/work OK with the bluetooth mouse. Now dont see it , cant pair/ use it.
3) The initial assessment that the old machine is slow due to windows 11 and CPU incompatibility is probably wrong. The problem must be due to the wifi mouse. I have to buy a new mouse, not Bluetooth because it doesn't recognize the one that works correctly on the new machine, but wifi or wired. Before to that to avoid to give money without result , i will create a new thread about the problem with the bluetooth mouse.
4) After all , i cant see the reason to install w7. Thanks all you for your good will.

UPDATE 2) :
It seems ....... satanic symptosis. Now and the new machine cant see/pair with bluetooth mouse. The same time that we tried all these failed solutions , it looks like bluetooth mouse died. Note : both new machines see other bluetooth devices so the problem must be with the death of bluetooth mouse. Unbelievable things ........ So for now i remain with a one problematic wifi mouse for the two machines......

I’m having an issue - I might have to sign up to sevenforums and query about it there, if nobody can answer here. But I’m putting the USB in, which has my driver on, yet it doesn’t show. Anybody able to help?

I have used Rufus in the past to download the Windows 7 ISO and install it on a flash drive. Unfortunately, that option at least for now has been pulled. Since about March there has been a boycott against Reddit. Apparenly Rufus has joined it. In any case if already have a Windows 7 ISO then you can still use Rufus to create a bootable USB flash drive.

I don't know why you are having a problem installing Windows 7. I installed Windows 7 easily on my old HP Pavilion laptop I bought in 2004 and a desktops I build in 2002, 2009, and 2013.

The Windows 7 setup should have all the drivers it needs to finish the setup. You can download additional drivers later.

If Windows 7 doesn't have SP1 then you need to install it. After that you can use Simplix to update it.

should work in a usb2 port. for usb3 port you could use the "universal" usb3 update and drivers i posted earlier.

it is usually a good idea to integrate the obvious stuff into the installation media beforehand.

If anybody gets stuck, the obvious thing is to boot some kind of win10/win11 pe and use dism++ (runs fine in pe ) or similar to install the drivers - point it at the installation on the hard disk, and at wherever you put the drivers.

Use a USB2 port.

I have 2 usb 3 ports on the front, and usb 2 ports on the back, which obviously work as I am using the keyboard and mouse in them and they are working. The usb I am using is a sandisk 3.0. is this the issue?

Why didn’t I think of this… There is no turning back now, it would have to be a usb install

What I’m going to have to do if I can not get windows 7 drivers working with the usb ports is probably install Linux. Not sure ATM. But I am calling it a day for now, thanks for the help and please do post more if you have any, I will just only be able to test it tomorrow.

I really want to get Windows 7 running, as it is super smooth and quick.
