Solved downgrade via a disk image?

You will have bought a new licence for the Win11 Pro version so the licence for the Win11 Home version is still valid. I therefore imagine that you will be able to reinstall Win 11 Home from the disk image but create another image first for Win11 Pro. That way you will have images for both and able to swap back if you want to.
Caveat - You will lose any user files you created in Win11 Pro so backup these first so that you can copy them to Win11 Home version.

You can downgrade using the disk image IF the image was made of that machine when it was licensed with Windows 11 Home installed.
It's a shame to pay for a Pro license and not use it though. Pro has a lot of benefits. Once you restore the image of 11 verify that it is activated,

I payed for the upgrade to get bitlocker. Not knowing that bitlocker takes 20 hour for locking a drive. Hours more for usb sticks etc. It can be a nice product (bitlocker) but it is a disappointment. Besides that: I am using windows insider preview, with the new pro version I have experienced three times that all my drives are changed into read only (so my pc is useless). Of course when I rolled back it works nice again, till the next update (after a few days). Reported it in the feedback. For the rest.....I do not see so much extra in the pro version, I am using. It was realy for the bitlocker I did. That realy toke me days of my life. Sorry.

Why not just keep Pro but not use BitLocker? It's not a requirement to encrypt drives, Pro does have other advantages

I get those nasty harddiks lockups, suddenly out of the blue. ok....with pro I get:
Group policy: I already had this in Home (via, via)
Connect other computer: I am using teamviewer
Sandbox: I have alternative program.
I was really using Pro for bitlocker.....

@NavyLCDR - In answer to your question: - I know the OP can't have used the 'upgrade' path from 'Win11 Home' to 'Win11 Pro' since it isn't possible (is it?) so he must have 'aquired' a new 'Win11 Pro' licence and I assume he did not get it free. This is why I said "You will have bought a new licence for the Win11 Pro version".

There are two reasons I bought a Pro upgrade for one of my Win10 machines, and neither of then are Bitlocker. The same can be said for my Win11 machines. I avoid using Bitlocker on all of them.
The first and foremost benefit of Pro (for me) is to be able to use Hyper-V virtual machines. The second benefit is the Group Policy editor, in particular the policy to have Windows Update notify me of new updates, but not to download and install until I tell it to.
That's not a common fault. I'm running the Insider Release Preview of W11 Pro on one of my machines without any issues.

- UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to lid hinges starting to break up this laptop has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.
I've now clean installed 25H2 and used Garlin's scripts to update Secure Boot to CA 2023 and revoke the PCA 2011 certificates. It's new role is to test secure boot issues.
Info for 2021-2026:
fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

Unlike a lot of others here, I have strong feelings against bitlocker. I have turned it off in control panel, services, group policy, and in the registry. Overkill...Yes it is. I just wanted to make sure there was no way in hell it could get turned on. If one needs it, the concept of bitlocking drives can be a good one, but it has caused havoc for some. I wanted to make sure I wasn't one of them.

A poll on this forum suggests that 85% (out of 46 votes) do not use Bitlocker. I am one of those 85%.
