Solved downloads in edge will not open

my windows 11 will not open email links to download or webpages automatically. Instead it will take it to downloads on the upper right hand corner and ask me what i want to do with the file. I have attempted to change the setting in edge for downloads turning off the three settings in it. Also have attempted to set edge as my .pdf default but none of this has worked. Last attempt i made was changing the privacy setting for pdf turning off option to download. I going to keep searching but if anyone has something under their sleeve would take any tips

I get no problems, of those three settings 1 (Location) and 3 (Show downloads) are ON, and 2(Open Office files in Browser) is OFF.
All files are download, except PDFs are viewed initially in Browser for a quick look as it were, or downloaded.

PDF default is actually Adobe Acrobat thus used on downloaded PDF files.

I've used Edge for many years.

That is why 1 (location) should be on, you can change the default if you wish.

Go here and change default App:
Windows > Settings > Apps > Default apps > Choose defaults by file type > find .PDF click on it > select Edge > set default.

Thank you for the reply, i have tried changing edge to be the default for apps, but that statement you made about pdf opening in a separate windows is what im looking for my computer to do but it does nothing but try to save it in my downloads folder

found the solution to my problem for anyone who would be running into the same issue, my fix was once you click a pdf file and it pops up on the right hand side either asking for you to "open" or "what would you like to do" right click on the pdf file and choose option "always open with system viewer" this will still bring up the downloads tab on the right hand side but will also open your pdf file within a sec or two. Hope this helps !
