Downsides to upgrading to Windows 11 26H2?

I got a notification in Windows 11 that the 26H2 update can now be downloaded and installed.

However I have become quite wary of updates from Microsoft after they started using them to insert ads into software applications that I already paid for (talking here about the seemingly unremovable "Upgrade your plan" ad that is now always displayed in all my Office applications).

So my question is: if I install the 26H2 update, will it introduce ads into my Windows 11 environment too? Or any other unpleasant surprises that I should know about?

That has nothing to do with 25H2, or 26H2.

It's Office doing what it does...

I literally see no difference between the 25H2 and 26H2 builds. My 25H2 Betas still have more features that haven't migrated to 26H2 yet though lol. No surprise ads or any NEW bugs but some 25H2 bugs will carry over.

Yes, I know that this current ad in Office was not introduced through a Windows update.

However since Office and Windows are both products from the same company, I'm asking here to verify whether I should now expect them doing something similar in Windows or not.

Same here, no difference to my everyday experience going from 25H2 to 26H2.

If you want to curb ads from MS, download O&O ShutUp10 and select all the recommended settings. It disables a whole raft of MS guff and telemetry. I don't get any ads at all on anything.

I don't get any ads on 25H2, and don't use O&O ShutUp (or anything similar).

I must be doing something wrong...;-)

    Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 15 years?
My experience with 25H2 on my desktop PC was not a good one. I had nothing but issues with it from the start. To put this in context, I've used Windows going back to 3.1. 25H2 is in my experience the worst version of Windows since the DOS based versions.

With 26H2 both my computers run fine and have been stable in all day-to-day usage over the last 6 weeks except for a shutdown issue on the desktop which wasn't related to 26H2.
