I'm sorry to come with some noob questions. I'm going through the process of re-installing my sound drivers. I've been meaning to check out your updated Realtek drivers, and now is as good a time as any!

There are two things that have caused me some confusion (My system uses the UAD - ASUS ROG SS3-DTS package):
1) I noted that you have the "SS3 APO SoftwareComponent Driver : 3.5.4.0 WHQL [22/08/2022]". The drive I have obtained previously from MUC was 3.5.3.0 [10/07/2022]. I cannot find a 3.5.4.0 driver on the MUC. I realize that the MUC isn't always quickly up-to-date, but the 3.5.4.0 was supposedly released like 5-6 months ago, based on the date provided. Is this driver accessible anywhere besides your package? Is it a driver specific only to your driver packages?
2) Most of the drivers and software components you include or discuss I have found in my Device Manager. That is, all except for "SS3-SSVM Extension Driver : 1.3.18.0 WHQL [13/07/2022]". Why is it that I cannot find this extension driver within Device Manager?

Thank you!

Hi,

First of all please stop posting on different forums asking help/questions without ever answering or thanking when an answer is brought to you (and the fact that you asking noob questions as you say has nothing to do with that, it's a matter of politeness) :

- Realtek Audio Drivers (B550-F Gaming) help please : Here you ask questions about the drivers package from your motherboard support page and about SSVM in a forum section dedicated to ASUS Support (which I don't usually intervene), and despite that I answered you in a much more detailed way than the ASUS Support staff and even sent you a PM telling you what kind of motherboard you have and what kind of drivers package you need. No answer/thank from you either on your thread or by PM.

Hi,

You have an ASUS ROG SS3|DTS Sound Unbound motherboard, so :

You need Realtek Audio Drivers (UAD - ASUS ROG SS3-DTS) from the first post of this thread : [DRIVERS] Realtek Audio (Intel 2xx/3xx/4xx/5xx/6xx/7xx & AMD 3xx/4xx/5xx/6xx).

Follow scrupulously your CLEANUP process then your INSTALL process, for the next drivers packages that I would release, you will can directly follow your UPDATE process.

- Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version [3] - Windows 10 Help Forums : Here you ask same things in the meantime (before I answer you in your thread in ROG forum). You didn't edit your post or let the people know that you finally got an answer in ROG forum.

There are two things that have caused me some confusion (My system uses the UAD - ASUS ROG SS3-DTS package):

You can't find it on MUC (Microsoft Update Catalog) simply because it's not on MUC yet (OEM only for now). Like most of the drivers I offer, it will presumably appear on MUC later.

2) Most of the drivers and software components you include or discuss I have found in my Device Manager. That is, all except for "SS3-SSVM Extension Driver : 1.3.18.0 WHQL [13/07/2022]". Why is it that I cannot find this extension driver within Device Manager?

Thank you!

The extension drivers (all, not only concerning your audio drivers), are not visible in your Device Manager, use Driver Store Explorer to see them.

Hmmm... I never realized I got an answer on the ROG forums, so I apologize. I never got any notifications for any of the answers, replies, PMs, etc. I DID see that I had a PM yesterday but the site is so crappy that every time I clicked the link to see it, the site would fail to load, or crash, or something. I didn't see any of the replies or your PM until just now when you linked my post! (Ergo, I wouldn't have updated my post in a completely different forum, to which I also did not receive any answers). So, from my point of view, this was the first time I received any answers to any of my questions (that I posted 2 weeks ago and now today).

So, Thank you!

I got to wondering today:
Would your drivers still work if, instead of uninstalling and removing everything and running your "install.cmd" file, I used device manager to Update Drivers and browsed to the folder containing your driver package?

Hi,

I only offer OEM original drivers, WHQL signed by Microsoft, so yes they can update (or be updated by) the drivers packages from your motherboard support page (updated or not with the drivers from Windows Update/MUC) without following your CLEANUP process then your INSTALL process (it was in order to start from a clean base that I told you to do this), you can directly follow your UPDATE process or update manually your drivers from Device Manager (but you can't update your extension drivers since you can't install them from Device Manager).

Ok, cool! Thanks!
So these extension drivers... This is a new thing for me and the first I've dealt with them. I understand now that as extension drivers they cannot be updated via device manager. But how do these extension drivers work? How ARE they installed? Are they just .inf files that are copied into the Windows/System32 folder somewhere, or is there something more complex involved?

The extension drivers are the drivers that allow the installation of the SWCs, they also contain the settings specific to your motherboard type and the users licenses for your third party products built-in.

Just follow your UPDATE process, it will be the equivalent than updating manually your drivers from Device Manager but it will also update your extension drivers.

When you say "Just follow your UPDATE process", are you referring to the "UPDATE" instructions you provide on the first post in the section that applies to my motherboard?

I was thinking of build plans for the future using a AMD Ryzen 9 79xx CPU some day.

I was wondering which of your driver packages is best/correct for

hi MoKiChU,
I was thinking of build plans for the future using a AMD Ryzen 9 79xx CPU some day.

I was wondering which of your driver packages is best/correct for
ASUS PRIME X670E-PRO WIFI
Realtek S1220A 7.1 Surround Sound High Definition Audio CODEC*

please and thx.

Hi,

The ASUS PRIME X670E-Pro WiFi is an ASUS PRIME DTS:X Ultra motherboard, so :

You will need Realtek Audio Drivers (UAD - ASUS TUF/PRIME DTSX Ultra) from the first post of this thread.
