So it's not engineering firmware then - it's retail ssd's as well. And he resolved it by updating his bios. But says non phison drives are affected as well.

So I had updates on pause for 3 or 4 weeks and didn't install KB5063878. I did an image last night and turned windows updates on and am not being offered it. Instead I'm being offered the cumulative update KB5065426. Which I believe replaces KB5063878. Not sure about that.

I believe KB5065426 should handle any of the previous updates, that's what usually happens.

You can check the Windows 11, version 24H2 update history (look at the scrolling left margin).

Incidentally, checking my Samsung 970 evo nvme in device manager, shows it has a microsoft driver from 2006! That seems a bit old. Before the drive even existed!

The latest Samsung driver for the drive is from 2020 - just looked it up. However it only says for Windows 7, 8 and 10.

yeah the Micron/Crucial site states The windows driver is recommended, their proprietary drivers are only for Large transfer none consumer environments and diagnostic testing, would assume its the same for most now.

Not everyone has all the time in the world to watch lengthy videos when a paragraph or two would explain the basic issue. If I were watch half an hour of video for every question I had, I'd spend 24/7 watching videos!

It's some sort of strange generational thing. People don't have the attention span to read a well-written page, but will watch a 30 minute YouTube video, regardless of how dilute its content may be.

I admit to sometimes getting information from YouTube. I've tried to master stepping through videos to bypass the wasted verbiage.

And, I've steeled myself to get through videos where the speaker thinks that a lot of gesticulation makes it more engaging.
