Hello!

I updated my drivers and BIOS yesterday and noticed right a little later, that i can no longer select DTS:X Ultra in my sound options.
My config is Graphics Card -> HDMI -> TV -> HDMI eARC -> audio receiver

It was working fine until i updated all of my stuff and now something seems to have changed. The following updates might have something to do with it:
- Updated BIOS to v2305 (LINK)
- Updated Realtek USB Audio Driver to VB6.3.9600.2342 and afterwards to V6.3.9600.2342 to check if that changes anything
- Updated nvidia driver to current version 531.41
- Updated Windows to currently latest version
- Updated software and apps through the Windows Store

Has anyone encountered something like this or has an idea what could have caused this?
It's kinda annoying...
And i think the DTS Sound Unbound software has changed as well, since i now have to buy a license for the DTS Codec and i am sure that the same tab was already licensed before my updates. I never bought a license, but maybe DTS changed something with their software? I couldn't find any info about that though...
I'm just really confused.
(The underlined text reads "License valid until 13.04.23" since i started my trial to see if that fixes it)

Thank you!

According to this MS article DTS-X is only given as a free trial. Get DTS Sound Unbound from the Microsoft Store
Hey!
Thanks for answering.
Yes, exactly. That wasn't the case for me before. I am sure i was able to use DTS withouthaving to buy a license, except for the DTS Headphones option.
But now the DTS:X Ultra option is not even appearing anymore, even after i activated the DTS trial. So that can't be the problem.... i guess?
I'm kinda baffled right now.

Alright, i think i managed to fix this problem.

I don't know what caused this problem but thanks to @MoKiChU and his awesome threads over here and here i managed to reinstall the drivers and now the option is visible again.
I have no idea what actually happened but i'm never gonna update my drivers again 🫠

Thanks everyone!

Did you use Armoury Crate to update your drivers or do it manually? As I'm sure you discovered, there are quite a few lengthy threads with Asus Rogue mobos and Dts-x sound. From what I read it appears that whether or not you see DTS-X sound is tied to the other drivers you are using, especially chipset and sound. @MoKiChU recently wrote this informative thread. I have flagged him so hopefully he can help you resolve this.

Well heck, you found Mokichu's thread before I could post it. Thanks for posting back what resolved your problem.

Yeah, i'm really glad that fixed my problem :D
Thank you for seachring for it and linking it though!

I actually upgrade my (audio) drivers by myself, i'm not a big fan of armoury crate. I read somewhere that using that software to update drivers is more reliable though so i installed it today, do you think i should remove it again and just keep updating the drivers from the official asus website?

As long as you use the official site, manual updating is fine. That's where armoury crate gets its updates from. It's when one veers away and installs questionable drivers that one gets in trouble. I have an OEM Intel machine. I get all my drivers either from Dell or Intel. Glad you found solution and fixed your own problem. Good job. I had scanned Mokichu's post a couple of days ago but didn't dwell on it since it didn't apply to me. Sorry I didn't remember it sooner. Something you might want to do is disable drivers from Windows update.
If you have PRO use group policy method (option 1)
If you have HOME use regedit method (option 2) This will also work for PRO

Alright, i'll look into that. Thank you!
And i really don't mind that you didn't think of that off of the top of our head. I'm just glad someone answered as quickly as you and Mokichu did. I feared i had to wait for a few days until anyone would offer any help :D

I'm just glad everything worked out fine and i really appreciate the helpful community over here 🙌
