Why surprised?
Any company offering any sort of service these days, and especially internet related, has to share the playground with the big boys.
VPN services started by saying "we don't save logs" followed by "ok we save logs, but we don't let anyone else see them" followed by "some security services can see them", each new admission following independent research into their practices revealing more detailed information.
DuckDuckGo omitted to tell people that it has an agreement with MS for parts of it services, obviously hoping no one would look closer.
It is getting so much harder these days not to be pessimistic and assume that companies are lying, or deliberately omitting details, all the time, but currently the evidence against them seems to be overwhelming. :)

That came as a surprise to me when I read it
I used it for about two weeks, then figured out what they were doing. If I am going to be tracked, I will at least use a Good Search Engine such as Google.

I only it with Firefox to give different search results, pretty much everything I do is with Chrome and Google, but Google search can quite often not look for what I ask

Of course, it may not be for everyone. But no harm in trying it out.

The case fan and CPU cooler were after purchase upgrades...the i7 cpu runs hot and the OE solution can best be described as marginal when CPU intensive apps are used.
ALSO added a VRM and SSD passive heatsinks.
