e-Mail App Options - Alternatives to Outlook and Thunderbird?

It seems that eM Client has improved a lot since the last time I used it. Logging in to my Outlook using Proton email was a breeze, just click on Allow, unlike in other clients, Outlook does not even allow to use Outlook with 3rd party login on desktop, only on android, and other email clients automatically grab IMAP settings from Proton instead of Outlook. GUI can be customized like crazy, I periodically sent emails to spam instead of removing it. Not a problem anymore. Notification sound is a bit scary, but it can be changed. It remembers windows position instantly. The only downsize is that it is not digitally signed, but otherwise it is perfect. It is a keeper.

I have half a dozen email accounts, and Thunderbird does it just fine. It's good to contribute to keep open source stuff like this running, but I get to pick the amount, not get hammered with an annual payment. Got plenty of them right now, power, water, sewer, Internet, etc.

I'm seeing a cheaper option. Also, most home users have only one (or occasionally two) mail accounts so there's no charge whatsoever.

In the classic US lawyers spiel in Court especially the "Ham'n Eggers" usually found in California lower Courts --(but also elsewhere too) where they say "I rest my case". Surely PERRY MASON would do better !! --why pay when you don't need to.

Even this year as a retired (but still doing a bit of part time working) and a basic state tax free pension of around €22,000 a year (plus extra stuff that boosts this decently) plus other private "taxable stuff" why with a decent lifestyle would on earth would I spend a load of stuff that I don't need to,

I'm happy with new stuff but it needs to be worthwhile not just by adding "feature-itus stuff " .

Just adding a load of run off not wanted rubbish bloat to decent standard decent apps with a load of extra dross often riddled with ads just puts people off.

I like Winareo's Classic paint, wordpad, old Win 7 games, calculator far better than the over bloated modern stuff -- and I'm not a person afraid of new technology either.

Cheers
jimbo

No, you can purchase a perpetual license. I bought one recently under my wife’s name for $42, as she works at Hokudai (Hokkaido University). They give you a 30% discount if you are in school or university.

Excellent email client. It gets all your email (even 2-factor authentication email) in just a couple of minutes. Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, etc.

Too many laptops with different system specifications.
That's like saying, Do I need a Mercury or a Mercedes to get from point A to point B.

Having recently broken down and gotten a new desktop with Win 11 Pro, I no longer felt comfortable running Office 2016. Since the new version of Outlook offers a lot less, I'm no longer using Office at all and don't expect to.
The ONLY email client I could find which offers rules and folders similar to Outlook Classic was eMClient. I've subscribed for the first year and will see how it goes. So far I'm impressed with it's rule flexibility and accurate implementation thereof. Font size, theme and many other UI elelents can be customized. It supports POP and IMAP.

Before Windows 11 I wanted an email app to work with 4 personal POP accounts AND 3 imap Gmal accounts. I found this in Mailbird which I also recommend. Mailbird doesn't have the rule and detail capacity of eMClient, nor of Outlook Classic - which is no more. But it does everything that most would want.

I didn't include Thunderbird in my search because the UI always sends me running; it never feels cohesive.

The continued nagging to keep it working would be a deal killer for me.
What continued nagging you talking about Willis?
I have been using the FREE version with 2 accounts for the past 4 years, I have never had any nagging whatsoever.
