I bought the EA game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order from Steam. Is there a way I can just download the game directly to my computer? I couldn't find a solution on EA, Steam, or Google.

Games bought through Steam generally need to be installed and played via steam. Same with Rockstar Games, EA & Xbox.

Not sure that you have to open EA via Steam? Should be able to open EA and see the game?

When I first bought EA, Rockstar and Ubisoft games they came on CDs or DVDs. Back then getting them from Steam made it easier to keep track of and install them. Now since they are all digital downloads it really doesn't make any difference where you get them from. Also, it is useful to occasionally visit EA, Rockstar, Ubisoft, and Steam to see when games are on sale.

EA, Ubisoft, and Rockstar games you buy from Steam are special versions that launch using the Steam app. It seems confusing at first but I just accept it now.

I have shortcuts on my desktop to the EA app, the Rockstar Game Launcher app, the Steam app, and the Ubisoft Connect app. Sometimes the hardest thing to remember is what app to use to launch a paricular game.

If you go to Electronic Arts Home Page - Official EA Site you have choice where to buy "Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order" for Windows.

I tried that, steam gave the game away free. it is terrible and very very dated. IMHO

The only way to own a game and install it without needing online clients is to buy it from GOG. When you buy a game from GOG, you have two ways to install it: through their client, like on Steam (which requires an online connection), or by downloading the installer, saving it to a CD/DVD/external hard drive, and installing it offline.

It happens to most people ;-)

GOG is the store of the creators of Witcher and Cyberpunk (CD Projekt Red). It was created to preserv classic games and to play them on modern computers. But they also include new releases. However, since none of the games on this platform contain DRM, many companies are reluctant to sell their games in this store for fear of piracy (although, deep down, they know they'll be pirated anyway). Like you, most people who discover GOG don't want to go back to other platforms XD
