Yeah I paid the annual fee for the Pro portable version and removed Edge. There is a Forced Uninstall button, and I think that and just putting Edge in the search box and said yes to everything it wanted to uninstall - and there were a lot!!! registry etc. Just make sure you take a dependable backup image before you do it just in case. I think I removed a couple other things but I forget what. Maybe copilot but I might have just removed that from the taskbar. I forget. You have to re-do it after every upgrade, like 23H2 to 24H2.

I think that would cause you a world of pain and considering all your issues i doubt you need that.

Microsoft Edge is tied to a lot of things in Windows. Removing it could cause you more grief than it is worth.

I’d suggest you try other processes to bypass the need or being forced to use Microsoft Edge.
One way to do this is to use Edge Redirect

Microsoft Edge Redirect. It prevents Edge from hijacking the default browser and search preferences and other scenarios..


Select “Active Mode” (I would reccomend)

I uninstalled Edge with just the normal process (Revo pro). Tick the box next to Edge in the list of programs and then click uninstall. There is not nedd to use the 'force' option. Some Windows Settings have 'help' features that rely on Edge to give you info. When you click on these you get an error. But that is the only downside in weeks.

This does not seem to happen any more. Windows will now open help links in my default browser, Brave.
