When I click a link in Edge it opens in a new tab, which is what I want, but I then have to click the new tab to see it.

How do I get the new tabs to open automatically without me having to click the?

Running W11, up to date, as is Edge.

Any advice appreciated.

From Chrome Web Store I added the extension "New Tab Switch" to Edge. Works great. New Tab Switch - Chrome Web Store
