Solved Enable Facial Recognition for Windows Hello

I'm attempting to setup Windows Hello for my camera. I have a Hello compatible camera which works fine, I checked and the Facial Recognition option is enabled, but I get this.

I uninstalled the Facial Recognition feature and then installed it again, that didn't help. I checked Event Log and nothing at all about the camera or any failure. Windows 11 is updated to the current version, build 26220.7344.

What am I missing?

I read that and more. Most of the tips are for improving the recognition when it's working, mine seems disabled for no reason. I have to be able to enable it before I can debug it. ;-)

Probably a stupid question for something you've already tried, but have you tested that your new camera will actually take a front facing photo?

I think even though the camera claims Hello compatibility, it doesn't have it. It comes up in Device Manager as a plain USB Camera. It comes up twice, but it obviously isn't compatible, I'm sending it back.

Works fine as a camera, but I already had one of those.

Actually, the camera had the IR and visible cameras, maybe it just wasn't working right, hard to say. In any case, it didn't show up in Device manager correctly and no drivers were available, so I'm sending it back and trying a different one. Maybe I'll buy the Microsoft one this time, it should be compatible with Hello! :lmao:
