This tutorial will show you how to enable or disable drag tabs to create a new tab group in Microsoft Edge for your account in Windows 10 and Windows 11.
Microsoft Edge is the AI-powered browser. A smarter way to browse. As the only browser built and optimized for Windows, it’s AI-powered tools are designed to help you make the most of your time online. Whether you’re searching, shopping or gaming, AI-powered tools and a security-first approach help you stay productive, save money, and get things done your way.
You can organize your tabs of webpages with Tab groups in Microsoft Edge. Group related tabs and customize them with a name and a color, so you can easily navigate and stay focused.
The name of a tab group will appear in the selected color on the left side of the tab group.
A group of tabs will have the same color grouping, and the same color line will appear above the tabs to distinguish between new and existing tabs and groups.
Starting with Microsoft Edge 142+, you can turn on or off Drag to group tabs to create a new tab group by dragging a tab on top of another tab until they highlight as a new group, then drop the tab to create the tab group.
Turning off Drag to group tabs does not prevent you from being able to drag tabs into existing tab groups to add them.
